台灣是全球老化第一快速的國家，面對此一重要的變化，相關的健康議題逐漸受到重視。本課程主旨在於讓同學們了解老化及常見老年疾病相關之流行病學研究及相關議題。同學們將閱讀重要的老人議題文獻，課程前半堂以老師講授為主，同學接著對於指定的文獻進行評論及檢視各議題之流行病學研究方法、老年疾病相關議題，期中時至台大北護分院參訪，並於期末提出口頭及書面報告。希望本課程能將老化及老年疾病的議題應用到公共衛生實務上。
Taiwan has the fastest aging rate in the world. While encountering this important change, relevant health topics become important. This course is aimed at understanding the epidemiologic research and related topics on aging and common disease in the elderly. Students will read essential literatures in relation to the elderly. The first half of lecture will give an overview of a specific topic and the latter half lecture will be literature discussion and critique. In the middle of the semester, a site visit will be hold at the nursing home at National Taiwan University Hospital Bei-Hu Branch. Students will also need to prepare a final presentation and a report. Eventually, this course aims to bring topics related to aging and elderly disease to the practice of public health.
